Past Events 2007-2010 'On Saturday 3rd July 2010 89 bike riders took off from Gronant, along the Coastal Path, to Colwyn Bay in aid of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and the North Wales Cancer Centre. The event was organised by Loz Harrison of Flint. The event was supported by the Denbighshire & District Branch of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. The charity celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, hence the name of the event.
On the same day Loz had arranged a golf tournament at Flint Golf Club followed by an evenings's barbeque and karaoke.
**An Audience with James Griffiths, Spiritualist Medium**
at The Beaches Hotel, Prestatyn, Wednesday 23rd June 2010 On 23rd June, we hosted a completely new type of event that we have not done previously, and we would like to thank those who came and supported us.
Sadly, James was unable to make the event due to circumstances beyond his control, however just when we thought that the evening may need to be cancelled, local spiritualist mediums Craig Sephton and Robert Myatt stepped in to lend us a hand. Craig and Robert attempted to link in with the spirits present in the room, and pass messages to audience members. We would like to extend our sincerest thanks to Craig and Robert for volunteering to stand in for James - and at such last minute notice! We hope that James gets well soon. The fundraising evening raised £237.75! **Paranormal Investigation**
at Stanley Palace, Chester, Sat 27st March Once again, another fantastic paranormal investigation Paranormal Investigation - Rhyl Little Theatre - 31st Oct 2009 (raised £760.07) See links for contact details on the 'Our Supporters' page We were all brave enough recently to return to the devilishly spooky Stanley Palace in Chester for an overnight paranormal investigation, with sponsorship money being raised for Leukaemia Research. Our fancy dress Halloween Ball was a great success, raising lots of money for Leukaemia Research. We even had a celebrity drop in - Dr Cieran O'Keeffe from Most Haunted called in to see how we were getting on, as well as donating a couple of signed books for our raffle. Many thanks Cieran! Thanks to all who attended this fantastic investigation, especially UK Paranormal, who hosted the event with us. We had not previously investigated this location (in fact it has never been investigated!), so none of us had an idea of what was in store! Thankfully, the spirits did come out to 'play'...we had some fantastic glass moving and some various other phenomena...if anyone has any photos, do send them in to us at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it - we can try and upload them here for you! Bells & Bows Dinner Dance - Northop Country Golf Club - 22nd December 2007 (raised £2830.56)
We held our first ever Christmas Dinner Dance as a fundraising group on Saturday 22nd December 2007, and we are absolutely delighted to say that the evening was a huge success. Held at Northop Country Golf Club, guests were greeted by a brass band playing carols whilst sipping a mulled wine to warm their spirits (and their hands!). The evening began with a short performance by the Bishops Handbell Ringers, followed by a Christmas turkey buffet. What our guests didn't know was that we had a surprise for them all - a surprise in the form of Del Boy lookalike Maurice Canham. Maurice has won several awards for his impersonation of the wheeler dealer character Del in Only Fools & Horses, and didn't fail to provide the evening with a touch of...well...'cushtie' entertainment. Del helped us raise in excess of £800 on the raffle alone, along with engaging the guests in a game of 'Heads or Tails', with the winner of the £100 prize money very kindly donating it back to the charity. The Charity Auction was a great success, with all lots being bid on and won. In fact, we did at one point have two gentleman trying to outbid each other of the Rob van Dam signed photograph, in a very entertaining war to discover who loved the wrestler the most. After the buffet dinner, a fantastic firework display was provided, which was very kindly sponsored by Chester-based solicitors Walker Smith Way. Our guests then partied into the early hours of the morning, swaying to 'The Fairytale of New York' and Slade. We were extremely pleased to find that the evening had raised a fabulous £2500 for Leukaemia Research. We are so very grateful to all those who helped us organise and run the event, and also to those who contributed in other ways, such as sponsorship, and donations for the auction or raffle (you all know who you are!). In particular, we would like to thank Adam Dandy, our branch Honorary President, and his team at Dandy's Top Soil. We'd also like to thank all those who attended for their support and generosity, and we hope to see you all again next year!
